Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Appetize Team Up For New Mobile Payments Move

Smoothies are wonderful. They’re almost like a meal you can drink, assuming your meals are primarily fruit and vegetables. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is one of the biggest new presences in smoothies these days, and thanks to a new agreement with Appetize, it’s also one of the biggest new presences in mobile payments as well.

With Appetize on Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s side, the smoothie shop gets access to a cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) system as well as self-serve options and mobile product options as well. This allows for a wide range of new options for its customers.

The duo recently engaged in a pilot program, which by all reports ended quite well. With that under its belt, Tropical Smoothie Cafe ramped up the operation, and was set to bring the system out to the complete operation. Plus, the cafe would also reportedly tap Appetize for its analytics tools, reporting options, and store management functions.

The deployment would be gradual, however, starting with the POS terminals and hand-held devices, along with Kitchen Display Systems. Later offerings would include drive-thru functions, assuming the others work as planned.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s vice president of information technology Marina O’Rourke noted “We are moving to Appetize because their solution offers our team and guests a mobile and cloud-based platform that’s powerful and easy-to-use. Our franchisees need a solution that can support an omnichannel ordering environment, as well as the ability to manage one or several locations from a centralized, web-based platform that is constantly accessible and secure.”

When you’re talking about a place like Tropical Smoothie Cafe, it’s a good idea to make every interaction with the company as fast as possible. While some might think it would be good to slow down, it’s clear that the customers should slow down in their own way. Whether they’re drinking their smoothies in the shop itself or getting them to go, that’s where the relaxation should happen. The actual connection to the shop needs to be quick and efficient so that customers can enjoy the product without a lot of hassle getting in the way.

That’s just what Tropical Smoothie Cafe seems to have done here, and it’s a development customers will likely find quite welcome.
