Bitcoin: Snapcard Announces New Partnership with UniPAY

Snapcard expands its bitcoin services through a newly formed partnership with UniPAY, a Georgia-based digital wallet and payment services provider.

“With this partnership, UniPAY users can now pay for goods and services at more than 100,000 e-commerce sites that accept Bitcoin around the world,” said Jack Jia, Head of International Growth at Snapcard. “This is a very exciting use case for Bitcoin, to help citizens of a small developing country to gain access to the global economy.”

Through the collaboration, over 55,000 verified UniPAY users will be able to use bitcoin by activating a new account with cryptocurrency features. The option allows individuals to transact with several digital currencies, such as Litcoin and Dogecoin. In addition to general payments, individuals can perform conversions between a local currency and a preferred virtual currency.

To facilitate bitcoin transactions, UniPAY merchant partners will now be able to offer the medium as a payment method for their customers.

The group currently caters to a wide range of busy sectors, including online gaming, government agencies, mobile, aviation, utilities and internet services. It boasts some of the lowest fees in the space with zero fees to send and receive money, as well as deposits. The company does charge a minimal fee for withdrawing funds from an e-wallet to a bank account.

Online shoppers can also sign up for a virtual Visa card for secure purchasing on ecommerce websites. Transactions using the payment method are protected by encryption.

“Right now, visitors cannot always use their international cards to pay for goods and services in Georgia- the Bitcoin option will help break down those frictions and barriers,“ said Koba Kurdadze, CEO of UniPAY. “We are very happy to have partnered with Snapcard to launch this exciting new product for our users and merchants.”
