Dive Brief:
On Monday, the payments company said it advanced two executives into senior leadership following last year’s acquisition of Global Blue.
The Allentown, Pennsylvania-based firm also created a new executive post focused on payment technology oversight.
The company framed the moves as part of broader leadership updates tied to international operations and finance.
Dive Insight:
In July, Shift4 completed a $1.5 billion acquisition of Swiss payments tech firm Global Blue.
The international division’s new leader joined Global Blue in 2014 and, in the new capacity, will direct sales and go-to-market strategy everywhere beyond the Americas, the Monday update noted.
A Shift4 representative said by email that the international division’s new leader succeeds Jacques Stern, formerly Global Blue’s chief executive officer. The spokesperson did not clarify whether Stern exited the organization or shifted to another position.
In the newly minted payments leadership role, the appointee will oversee end-to-end payment technology, including the firm’s gateway and processing stacks worldwide, according to the release.
Shift4 brought the executive on last year, drawing on more than two decades in the sector. Before that, he served as chief product and technology officer at Planet Payments.
The new accounting appointee succeeds Jay Whalen, who is leaving Shift4 for a non-competing employer, the Monday update added.
Shift4 chief executive officer Taylor Lauber congratulated Pier and Tim on their appointments and thanked Jay for laying a strong foundation for the finance organization, the release said. The release identified Lauber as the company’s chief executive officer and did not indicate a change in that role.
The announcement did not mention any chief transformation officer appointment, provide the composition of Shift4’s board of directors or any recent board appointments, list former officers or directors beyond those referenced, or include any age distribution for the company’s managers.
