Groupon Gets Meaningful Makeover

Trendsetting crowd-coupon company Groupon has made a major makeover to its UK website and mobile app platform as it aims to compete with much larger e-tailers like eBay and Amazon.

Changes to the site include a new background interface that is white instead of the original green, and a new carousel display for better interactivity and visibility with merchandise.

Checking out the new homepage, we find improvements to the accessibility of the search bar, putting it prominently at the top of the page, while including additional search criteria so users can quickly access merchandise in a more targeted fashion from the homepage.

“In the four years since Groupon has launched in the UK, the number and variety of deals have grown rapidly,” according to Tamer Tamar, Senior Vice President, Groupon EMEA, who further went on to add, “Groupon UK has added thousands of new deals across local, product and travel in the last year alone. Our new site and mobile apps mean you can quickly find exactly what you want to do or buy, anytime, anywhere. “

New CEO Eric Lefrofsky has announced stunning results after the ouster of of former chief executive Andrew Mason, who wrote to colleagues after his dismissal from the company “I was fired today. If you are wondering why, you haven’t been paying attention.”

Groupon boasts impressive user metrics with over 53 million users worldwide and over 5 million of them in the UK alone. The crowd-couponing site is a clever new way of bringing value to consumers who readily eat them up.

While Groupon is rapidly expanding its offerings, including becoming a POS provider with Breadcrumbs, getting more user signups, and showing a decrease in unspent coupons, investor confidence has been shaky at best thanks to increasing losses despite growing revenue.
