Bigcommerce and Square Team Up to Bring Online and Offline Storefronts Together

Bigcommerce announced today that it is now the first full-featured, cloud-enabled commerce platform to serve retailers a real-time inventory synchronization and instant product catalog import via Square.

This development means that retailers are able to expand their businesses by procuring products for customers worldwide through a customizable online store, in addition to managing inventory across both platforms more efficiently.

Based on a recent study conducted within the industry of small to medium business owners; nearly 50 percent of retail businesses spend over three hours a week syncing their online and offline orders and inventory. On the other hand, only 10 percent claim to spend more than ten hours every week.

“I saved 100 hours of manual work by importing my Square inventory to Bigcommerce. With that type of efficiency, you can have your online store up and running in less than a day,” said Alex Head, owner of Drink Dispatch. “The integration allows for inventory continuity and a better customer experience, which are necessities when you’re offering your customers options like one-hour delivery.”

As soon as merchants connect Square with Bigcommerce, they can worry less about overselling due to the inventory levels adjusting after every sale. This service offers merchants an alternate view of inventory—seeing what is and isn’t available, or what will soon be unavailable for consumers.
