Subutai Introduces Blockchain Router 2.0 for Greener Cryptocurrency Mining

Having spent the last few months looking into the concept of cryptocurrency mining, in many cases,I found that the answer to such a development was “don’t.” While a few years back, it was reasonably possible to mine several now-major cryptocurrencies with a moderately powerful desktop PC. Now, trying to mine bitcoin is an effort that requires multiple pieces of specialized technology. However, other cryptos are a bit more feasible, and helping out on that front is Subutai and its new Blockchain Router 2.0.

The Blockchain Router 2.0 is currently in production, with an eye toward a third quarter release. Clearer, though, is that it’s a broadband cloud router that also works as both a cryptocurrency miner and a wallet for the produce of said mining. Those who pick up a Blockchain Router 2.0 will be able to both share and rent idle computing resources with a simple registration with the Subutai Bazaar.

The router itself boasts Subutai’s own PeerOS system, as well as some hardware acceleration tricks designed to get the most out of the hardware included. The end result is a system that will not only produce around $40 to $45 worth of Ethereum-based tokens a month (at the current exchange rate), but will do so with wattage better suited to a light bulb. The Blockchain Router requires just 18 watts of power to run, and is said to be sufficiently easy to use that it’s suited for both beginners and advanced miners, with little risk.

When more people have a chance to get hands-on with this system and see what it actually produces, then we’ll be better able to tell. But the notion that you could plug in a device and make $40 a month without spending at least that much on electricity is encouraging to say the least. It’s also a good way to get more users into the cryptocurrency concept in general; when you’ve got some people making enough for a casual-dining dinner for two every month and others ramping it up to full side-hustle status, you’ve got a robust market that should be able to outlast the naysayers.

I want to see the Subutai Blockchain Router 2.0 in action. The early word is good, but this is the kind of development best seen.
