DoorDash Adds New Drink Delivery Client in P.F. Chang’s
Those who can’t imagine going without beer or wine alongside their Long Life Noodles & Prawns or their Singapore Black Pepper Chicken from P.F. Chang’s just because they placed a delivery order will no longer need worry. P.F. Chang’s is testing out a new program with DoorDash that will allow for some alcohol delivery to at least certain markets.
The new connection with DoorDash will be valid at 12 different California P.F. Chang’s locations, and will open up not only the complete food menu, but also over 15 different types of beers—including Kirin Lager—as well as over 40 varieties of wine. Those who order such, of course, will need to be at least 21 to receive such an order.
All users need do to place these orders is to hit either DoorDash’s mobile app or its standard website, and then place the order with P.F. Chang’s accordingly via DoorDash. Naturally, users will also need a government-issued photo ID waiting to accept the order.
DoorDash has made similar pushes like this previously, in the same California regions where the P.F. Chang’s pilot program will be conducted. DoorDash has even gone so far as to partner with liquor stores and breweries to help get the product directly to the consumer, so this latest effort is just one more step in DoorDash’s push to get alcohol to more diners. Should the program prove successful, it will likely expand from there.
Honestly, I’m not sure why this isn’t a thing with more places already. Sure, there’s the inevitable concern about minors getting access to alcohol—do we not already know that this stuff is actually fairly simple to make? So simple, in fact, that it’s been done since a time when bronze was considered a major technological advancement?—but a simple ID check should take care of that.
Still, any advancement is worthwhile, and augmenting a mobile ordering experience with delivery and alcohol service should be readily taken up by the diners ordering from such places. It’s easy to see why people want a complete restaurant dining experience in their own homes, and the more that restaurants can do to provide it, the more likely they are to get the orders.
