Raise’s New Mobile App Makes Gift Cards More Accessible

Some believe that gift cards are the ultimate in cop-out gift, and only cash itself is more thoughtless and gauche. Others believe that gift cards are the ultimate expression of utility, with thought enough put in to know where someone would go to shop, if not necessarily what they’d want therein.

Regardless of your stance on gift cards, Raise is about to make it a whole lot easier to engage in these little plastic slices of mobile payments with its new mobile app.

Running on both iOS and Android devices, the Raise app allows for easier connection to the 300 retail partners and 3,000 brands represented on the Raise marketplace. With around two million customers so far on the hunt for discounted gift cards, that’s a lot of people who will be looking forward to enjoying this newly-developed platform.

It won’t just be about finding gift cards, either; reports suggest that Raise’s new app is specifically designed to make using gift cards in general—either in-store or online—“frictionless” for normal purchasing.

A new set of upgrades helps on this front, including new geo-location systems that help Raise users know where a store is that accepts a gift card, as well as some improvements in its user interface that will help smooth operations.

Such a program is likely to prove welcome for the user base; if it’s easier to use, then the around two million already in place are likely to stick around. Meanwhile, they’re also likely to tell others how great the experience is—not so many as if it were a bad experience, sure, but others nonetheless—which is also likely to bring in fresh users into the fray.

Everyone gets the chance to better use gift cards, businesses get more foot traffic into the store or eyes online, and the whole situation essentially improves thanks to cheaper, easier to use gift cards.

Great news all around, and we likely won’t have to wait long to see if it works. Raise users, though, should be especially happy with bargains that are easier to lay hands on.
