Clover Flex Ramps Up Mobile Options

While there will probably always be spirited discussion among small business operators if simplicity or functionality is better, sometimes—and these are comparatively rare—both become options.

That seems to be just what happened with Clover Flex, a simple device that opens up the field of payment options to almost its limit.

Clover Flex can be used as either a hand-held device for walking around a store, or as a countertop device, it’s able to accept several payment systems. Near field communications (NFC) transmission, electronic gift cards, PIN entry, chip cards under the Europay / Mastercard / Visa (EMV) standard and even straight magnetic stripe transactions are on hand.

Essentially, Clover Flex can handle nearly any payment mechanism available in the last 20 years short of cryptocurrency.

It’s even got the Payment Card Industry (PCI) PTS 5.0 certification, and this is actually the first such device to have that certification on the market today, reports note. That’s impressive in its own right, and there are other features to consider like an on-board receipt printer, a 3.5G modem with built-in wireless plan on AT&T’s network, and more.

There are even some interoperability features with other parts of the Clover lineup, so those already working with Clover can continue to do so without incident.

Early reports say that the Clover Flex is an impressive and time-saving affair; the 6 Gear Dog House food truck’s owner Jack Jackson called it “a huge help in terms of keeping our line moving quickly” at a St. Patrick’s Day festival—where there was clearly a premium on rapid service.

One of the biggest problems retailers face these days—besides the steady growth of online services that can supply just about anything a person would want quickly and effectively—is the ability to offer an excellent customer experience despite the sheer variety of options these days that customers expect.

A system like Clover Flex, which can handle a wide array of payment choices from one platform, can help satisfy that demand.

People want to pay for things with a variety of methods, and those businesses that offer the best variety are likely to come out ahead in the end. Clover Flex can deliver that flexibility, as the name suggests, and help businesses come out ahead with customers in the end.
