Cardtek to Host In-Vehicle Payments Event at BayPay Forum
Cardtek, a leading international payment technologies provider, today announced that it has assembled a special BayPay Forum event on the future of in-vehicle payments, entitled “Pay by Car.”
The event, which will be held on May 23 at the Exponent Offices in Menlo Park, California, from 5:30 to 8:30pm PT, will survey the potential of incorporating a secure and seamless payment platform within vehicles, allowing consumers to pay for services like gas and parking, without having to get out of their car.
Executives from companies leading the development of in-vehicle payments will give a demonstration on how new card can facilitate on-screen payments via smartphone integration and NFC technology, offering convenience and speed to car-related purchases.
BayPay has extended an invitation to its 14,000 members comprised of credit card companies, such as Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, banks, including Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America, and technology companies, such as Apple, Google, Facebook, and Twitter.
“A large number of everyday consumer payments – such as parking, gas, or picking up food at a drive-through – are car-related,” said Erdal Yazmaci, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of North America for Cardtek. “The development of a secure in-car payment platform makes a lot of sense for consumers, and it opens the door of opportunity for automakers, payment companies, and merchants to provide a more convenient experience for their customers. The intersection of car manufacturing and modern payments has arrived, and this event will provide a glimpse at the road ahead.”
