Comdata’s Comchek Mobile Means Mobile Payments for Truckers

Being a trucker is not an easy job. Long hours on the road sitting in one place isn’t for everyone, and trying to arrange the necessary payments for things on the road can be a difficult task in itself.

Recently, Comdata brought out a new service designed to take this particular headache off a trucker’s back: the Comchek Mobile system.

Comchek Mobile brings the power of mobile payments to use for truckers, allowing users to turn to the Comdata Proprietary Network to send and receive funds, as well as access overall funds, through the combined capability of a smartphone app and a Comdata card.

The system works on a variety of points, allowing drivers to satisfy bills for repairs, various settlements, driver advances and various other common needs.

The system is actually a simplified mobile version of the Comchek Express Checks system, which is a paper-based system that’s been operating for over 40 years now. The new system doesn’t turn to recipient banking information, but rather uses the Comdata card as the payment medium. The end result is a faster, smoother system that means less headache for the drivers.

Admittedly, it would be easier to think that Comdata is solving the wrong problem here; after all, there are more than enough mobile payment systems out there that could probably address these issues just as readily. Samsung Pay alone would have the near-field communications (NFC) connectivity sufficient to make it almost ubiquitous.

There’s a great reason not to do that, though, as if Comdata offers its own system built around its own name recognition and infrastructure, it’s done two key things: one, it’s given the new system a lot of extra credibility, and two, it’s also kept the payment processing costs in house, which means a better value for the users and more reason to turn to it.

Comdata’s new mobile payments program comes with the reputation Comdata has earned over the last several decades, and a lot of functional value besides. That combination should be a powerhouse for the company, and get a lot of new business into the fold.
