MunchOn, Chowly Team Up for Mobile, Online Orders

Online ordering is one of the great new advances in restaurant fare of late, and when mobile is brought into the picture, it’s even better. Being able to schedule a meal in advance helps streamline an evening out like little else can do, and it seems like more and more restaurants are putting this concept to work.

Recently, MunchOn—a New Jersey firm focused on online ordering systems—got together with Chowly, a Chicago firm that offers software and assorted services for restaurants to make getting in on the mobile ordering trend a little easier.

MunchOn, reports note, is set to act as a third-party provider for online ordering solutions, particularly for those restaurants using point of sale systems that Chowly already supports. So anyone with a Chowly system will be able to add MunchOn remote ordering without incident. That means a much simpler addition, which requires less time, and thus less cash to set up.

MunchOn parent company Odin Holdings’ president James Russo commented “The Chowly partnership propels us across a once-impenetrable barrier in the online order to restaurant data chain. Giving restaurants affiliated with MunchOn the ability take and fulfill online orders through their existing POS systems is a huge win and will provide a solid foundation for future growth.”

With the restaurant market facing tight competition and plenty of trouble from declining disposable income, adding extra features to the mix is a great way to get users more interested in the offering and back into the restaurants that offer such services.

It would be better, of course, to incorporate the full range of mobile options—including mobile payments—as well as drone-based delivery systems so as to get food without even leaving the house, but this is a fine move nonetheless. Anything a business can do to make itself distinct from the competition—as long as it preserves profitability—is commonly a smart move.

Online ordering means a better experience, at least for most people, so for MunchOn and Chowly to make this service that much easier to add on should have plenty of interested restaurants eager to get in on the action.
