Amsterdam, 11 December 2024 - Travix, well known for its five brands CheapTickets, Vayama, Flugladen, BudgetAir and Vliegwinkel, has recently appointed Taco Morellise as chief operating officer (COO). This new position has been created to support Travix’s growth ambitions to become a world-leading online travel agent. Taco Morelisse will be responsible for the implementation of Travix’s growth strategy, which includes optimising strategic planning and operational excellence.

In just over three years, Travix has evolved into a flight-centric online travel agent with an industry-leading technology platform and an exceptional growth track record in international markets. With more than 550 employees representing 50 nationalities, divided over 6 locations worldwide, operating 48 international websites, Travix’s five prominent brands are rapidly expanding across the five continents.

Shaping the future
Travix aims to be at the forefront of creating leading and disruptive innovations to shape the future of the online travel business. CEO John Mangelaars says: “To bring Travix to the next level we will expand our global reach, grow our cross-sell business and strengthen the personalisation of our propositions. We are excited to welcome Taco as our COO, who will take on the responsibility for all activities, from sales to service. He will be a key driver behind the successful implementation of our growth strategy. His proven expertise in leading high growth businesses and strategy development combined with his commercial and technological experience, are essential to helping us become the world-leading online travel agent”.

Taco Morelisse is not completely new to Travix. Following his role as CEO of Kluwer, he founded Nelson Ventures and served as an external advisor to Travix’s Board of Directors, where he has been instrumental in the development of Travix’s strategy since 2014. As COO, he will report directly to the CEO of Travix, John Mangelaars. Taco’s three key priorities are to execute Travix’s growth strategy, innovate customer experience, in particular in the mobile channel, and implement an agile way of working throughout the Travix organisation. Taco adds: “I look forward to having a positive impact on Travix’s strategic priorities and connecting the internal teams in a way that ensures a great customer journey globally.”
