Game Plan and Wells Fargo Unveil New Financial Education Program for Student-Athletes

Today out of the North Carolina, Game Plan, the comprehensive student-athlete development platform unifying the student-athlete experience at more than 50 colleges and universities athletic departments, and Wells Fargo & Company announced a new online education program that will aid student-athletes gain skills in financial planning and money management.

Game Plan with the help of Wells Fargo created eLearning modules using Wells Fargo’s Hands On Banking program curriculum. The Hands On Banking program is a free of charge, non-commercial program that educates people of all ages in basic principals of responsible money management.

Included in the eLearning modules will be over 20 on-demand topics addressing the various categories of financial education appropriate for student-athletes. Things like how to create a budget, save and invest, borrow responsibly, buy a home and establish a small business.

“Financial capability is an area of development and a critical life skill for all college students. Wells Fargo’s investment into providing financial education to student-athletes is just an example of its longstanding commitment to promoting economic health and well-being in the communities it serves,” said Vin McCaffrey, CEO and Founder of Game Plan. “Bringing the curriculum online and on-demand through Game Plan provides the athletic department staff with a key component as they build out their student-athlete development programming.”

Well Fargo had the privilege of introducing its Hands On Banking program in 2003, and over a million people from 232 countries visit the site each year to access its functionality.
