E-commerce giant Amazon said during the Money 20/20 on Monday that they are starting an extension program for the existing Amazon Payments Service called Amazon Payments Partner Program.
The newly launched Amazon Payments Partner Program will enable merchants operating in the global market as well as developers to integrate and “synchronize” Amazon Payments Service with their respective online retail websites.
While Amazon Payments is increasing its popularity among online retailers, the new service will enable customers to complete the checkout process with their exiting Amazon account credentials. Hence, Amazon management is hoping that the Amazon Payments Partner Program will help merchants increase their conversions by offering a more streamlined checkout process to online shoppers.
Furthermore, merchants will greatly benefit from the Amazon Payments Partner Program as it will allow them to work with Amazon to co-market the giant’s wide range of products and services. Especially, the merchants who would be partnering with Amazon will have the account management and technical resources of Amazon Payments to offer to their own merchants and sellers.
Commenting on the launch of Amazon Payments Partner Program, Patrick Gauthier, the Vice President of Amazon Payments, said that “The Amazon Payments Partner Program provides Partners with the tools and resources needed to extend the trust and convenience of the Amazon experience to their merchant customers.”
Some popular online store software brands like Shopify, Future Shop, and Prestashop have already come on board with the Amazon Payments Partner Program.
Yuko Hoshino, President of Future Shop noted that “the convenience and trust that Amazon Payments provides customers already attracts lots of our merchants. We are honored to participate in the Amazon Payments Partner Program.”
Amazon said that while the Amazon Payments Partner Program is currently invite-only and available only in larger markets like the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan, they plan to soon open it to other markets.
