Southwest Passengers Can Now Buy Digital Entertainment Onboard via Pay with Amazon
If you often fly with Southwest Airlines, you will soon be able to pay for Wi-Fi and onboard entertainment with Pay with Amazon.
Southwest Airlines’ onboard entertainment portal will now feature Pay with Amazon as a new convenient way to purchase services, said the company in a press release.
Most frequent flyers face the irritating issue of pulling out their credit card in a packed airplane. Besides privacy issues, very few people would actually go through the trouble of painfully entering their card number on the screen.
But, with Southwest Airlines new offer, travelers will get an option to Pay with Amazon account by simply logging into their account. “Customers accessing the onboard entertainment portal now have the opportunity to purchase Wi-Fi, messaging, and movies using Pay with Amazon,” said the press release.
Commenting on introducing Pay with Amazon payment option, Heather Figallo, Southwest Airlines Senior Director of Product Innovation and Management noted that they are “continually following the trends” of the customers and they are “looking for ways to enhance the Customer Experience onboard our aircraft.” “We’re so excited to have a great brand like Amazon available for our Customers to enjoy,” he added.
Patrick Gauthier, the Vice President of Amazon Payments, said that the option to Pay with Amazon will “makes it easy for millions of customers around the world to pay using their Amazon account” and they are “thrilled to be working with Southwest to offer customers a familiar and trusted way to pay while in flight to destinations all around the United States.”
The Southwest entertainment portal is compatible with iOS and Android devices. Southwest passengers can also access the portal through regular web browsers. Southwest Airlines claimed in the press release that they have designed the entertainment portal in a way that it would “compatible with major mobile devices,” and “ensure a seamless and superior quality playback.”
