For the first time, not-for-profit industry association GlobalPlatform is bringing its secure chip technology training program session in India this May in response to growing local demand.

India is one of the five locations where GlobalPlatform will offer two-part training sessions; the other are in London in April, Seoul in May, San Francisco this fall season and Paris in October.

Delivered across Asia, Europe and North America and covering card technology and contactless services, the training sessions seek to enhance knowledge of the function, capabilities, flexibility and benefits of the organization’s highly specified, royalty-free and standardized technology specifications.

Offering an in-depth explanation of the GlobalPlatform’s Card Specifications, the two-day Card Specification Training deals with secure channels, security domains and application programming interfaces.

The GlobalPlatform for Contactless Training Session addresses the role of GlobalPlatform Specifications on contactless-enabled services on mobile platforms.

Both sessions are limited to up to 15 students for a dynamic learning environment.

Kevin Gillick, Executive Director at GlobalPlatform, commented, “I am particularly pleased to announce that we will deliver our first open training session in India this year. India’s digital economy is booming; the increasing application of digital technologies across the country means that there is a growing interest in GlobalPlatform’s value proposition. To respond to local demand, we are planning a training session in Bangalore in Q2. We look forward to engaging with our Indian stakeholders at a local level and reinforcing the many benefits that a standardized infrastructure for the management of applications on secure chip technology can deliver.”

Since the launch of the training program in 2009, GlobalPlatform has trained about 1,000 students in public and in-house sessions held across Asia, Europe and the Americas.
