Global payments technology company Visa has announced that an increasing number of merchants are offering its digital payment service Visa Checkout as a payment option to customers.
Visa Checkout simplifies the checkout experience with a secure, single sign-on across channels and devices using the preferred payment method of customers.
Among the new merchants to support Visa Checkout are Starbucks, Walgreens, NFL Shop, HSN and Match, with Walmart.com to follow suit this year.
The rollout of Visa Checkout has been one of the fastest and most successful launches in the history of Visa as merchants and customers alike look for easier means to pay through cards.
Compared to other checkout options, Visa Checkout is more effective at driving conversion, says a recent survey by comScore. Shoppers are more likely to complete the checkout process when using this service.
The research found that Visa Checkout users completed 86 percent of transactions from the online shopping cart.
They also had a 51 percent higher conversion rate compared to those using traditional online checkout.
The survey also found a 7 percent higher transaction size for Visa Checkout orders compared to non-Visa Checkout orders at many retail and travel sites.
Sam Shrauger, Senior Vice President of Visa’s Digital Solutions, commented, “We are seeing tremendous Visa Checkout growth as we enter 2016 and are greatly encouraged by the enthusiastic response from consumers and merchants alike. By re-engineering the Visa card for the digital world, we’re delivering a better way to pay through connected and mobile devices.”
Launched in July 2014, Visa Checkout already has over 10 million consumer accounts. The service is available in 16 countries worldwide and is offered by more than a quarter million small and large merchants and 600 financial institution partners.
