As credit card companies intensified their battle for the market share in the United States, consumers seemed to be enjoying a lot of gifts and fringe benefits from the top card issuing companies.

During the last holiday season, MasterCard went all out in offering complimentary gifts to their card holders in New York.

MasterCard offered any of its card holders a free complimentary gift just by showing their card at their Guest Services Desk located in the Time Warner Center. The gifts were provided by The Shops at Columbus Circle. MasterCard users had to book this offer by December 31st, but they can avail the gifts on a first come, first served basis till the end of 2016!

Besides the complimentary gift offers from MasterCard, The Shops at Columbus Circle are also offering a $75 gift card to The Restaurant and Bar Collection. Any MasterCard holder can spend $1,000 at The Shops at Columbus Circle and become eligible for receiving the $75 gift card.

The Restaurant and Bar Collection at Time Warner Center offers some of the most esteemed chefs, restaurants, and distinct dining and nightlife destinations in the city.

Since opening its doors in 2004, Time Warner Center has become the hub for experiencing the best that New York has to offer. The center hosts The Restaurant and Bar Collection, The Shops at Columbus Circle, Mandarin Oriental, New York Hotel and Jazz at Lincoln Center.

While you can’t get the free complimentary gift now as the booking period is over, if you are carrying a MasterCard in your wallet and willing to spend a $1,000 dining and basically having a good time in New York, then head over to the Time Warner Center to get the $75 gift card by all means.

Although offering free gifts and gift cards to cardholders would be considered as a blunt market ploy, these actually work. While the American society is not tuned to exchanging corporate gifts, which is almost a social norm and cultural custom in the oriental countries, Americans do appreciate the gesture during the holidays.
