Okay, so let’s just say for argument’s sake that you really dislike the Apple Watch. Whether it is due to the high cost, or the fashion statement it makes, you simply do not wish to subscribe to that specific trend.
Let’s also assume that you are intrigued by contactless payments. How then do you intend on getting in on the trend? Well, how about via a jacket by Lyle & Scott?
It seems simple enough, especially considering the weather in UK, which more often than not, calls for a jacket to worn. Why not have your jacket be capable of making contactless payments?
For a cool 150 euros, you can sport a nice casual coat that in its cuff caries technology capable of making payments up to 30 euros with a simple wave of a hand over a supported reader.
Barclay’s has been on a mission of late to push mobile payments to the fore. However, the latest technology they’ve developed capable of making contactless payments, haven’t necessarily been the most fashionable.
Everything from a sticker to place on your phone, to a key fob, or wristband, Barclay’s has tried everything. Wearables in general are often considered an off-putting or unnecessary concept without having issues regarding fashion.
Garment based payments seem like something that would have been seen in Back to the Future Pt. II, and yet they are indeed an actual thing. As such, Barclay’s knows that in order for consumers to buy into the trend, they’ll need to look good doing it.
With Lyle & Scott’s “Contactless Jacket”, Barclays is one step closer to achieving that goal, making contactless payments available in a nice, snazzy looking coat.
