Klarna, the leading European payment solutions provider, announced its official launch of operations within the U.S. with Overstock.com, its first major retail partner.
Overstock.com says this partnership will bring an easy-to-use buying experience via mobile devices—allowing Overstock.com shoppers to easily make purchases with their smartphone or tablet with a few taps or less.
“We’re incredibly excited to launch Klarna in the U.S. To do so together with a partner of such a massive scale as Overstock gives us a huge boost into the market”, commented Brian Billingsley, the CEO of Klarna North America. “U.S. consumers are looking for a simpler and safer way to buy and retailers are looking for better ways to engage their consumers and increase their checkout conversion. The early success we’ve had with Overstock show the massive opportunity to turn more browsers into buyers.”
Starting today, Overstock.com will utilize Klarna Checkout for mobile-web purchases. Users need only to submit some information including email address, delivery address, and credit card number in order to become a new mobile-web guest.
“Klarna removes the friction from the checkout process. During testing, Overstock’s mobile customers responded with increased conversion rates, thanks to Klarna’s sophisticated technology”, said Overstock.com CEO Patrick M. Byrne. “We look forward to our partnership with Klarna.”
Klarna boasts being the only company on a global scale capable of achieving the same conversion rates on mobile as most retailers generally see on desktop platforms.
