Outback Steakhouse Anticipating Mobile Payments

The dining chain Outback Steakhouse is working to release a smartphone app by the end of 2015 that will enable customers to pay their tabs right from the table via their mobile devices.

The Nations Restaurant News service reported that executives from Bloomin’ Brands, the parent company of Outback, unveiled its plans for mobile payments yesterday, August 4th.

The app’s main function will be to streamline customer experience, allowing diners to speed up the process of registering for the wait-list upon arrival, as well as paying at the table after the meal.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Bloomin’ Brands’, Liz Smith, the company has “been working on the app for a long time.” Evidently, a convenient mobile payment platform was in the works at Outback for quite some time, perhaps due to demand from customers for a more efficient service.

Smith also revealed that this app will also have room for additional functionality, with the services already included, a few others may be added to optimize the customer experience.

Outback joins the list of restaurant chains looking to enhance customer experience, increasing turnover and profits. Chili’s, Applebee’s, and Buffalo Wild Wings are among the chains also venturing down the app road, looking to change the game in terms of the customer’s dining experience. Certainly, apps like these are definitely going to be utilized in the age of convenience. It’s no wonder why Outback looks to follow suit, working tirelessly to create a faster, more pleasurable dining experiences for their customers.
