Seamless, a developer of payment systems for mobile phones, continues the rapid rollout of its mobile payment service SEQR.
Today, SEQR becomes available in the UK market through a partnership with Optimal Payments, a leader in online and mobile payment services.
The UK launch comes just a couple of weeks after its roll out in the US. SEQR was first introduced in several European markets, where it has already become a leading mobile payment solution in a span of few months.
The SEQR mobile app allows smartphone users to pay online or in stores, transfer funds at no cost, connect loyalty programs, store receipts digitally, and receive offers and promotions.
Users just have to scan or tap a QR code at checkout and enter a PIN code to approve the purchase.
Aside from a fast and secure transaction, the mobile payment service allows merchants to lower interchange fees compared with those of traditional card issuers.
Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless, commented, “Launching SEQR in the US and the UK has been a top priority for us at Seamless. By offering a smart, adaptable mobile payment service, we’ve been able to attract some of the biggest operators in the market. Now that we’re starting to work with merchants and consumers, we’re creating the right conditions to be able to establish ourselves as the biggest mobile payments provider in the UK as well, a market with around 60 million potential customers.”
The UK becomes the first market where SEQR will offer a prepaid account to process payments. This will allow users to use the app for transferring funds from bank accounts, real time balance monitoring, and top up of accounts.
