Bitdefender Launches IoT Security Hardware Solution Through Avangate’s Commerce Platform

Bitdefender’s highly anticipated Internet of Things (IoT) security solution, called the BOX, is a hardware security solution designed to actively protect users from malware, phishing attacks, redirects, and malicious links.

“With 35% of Americans planning to invest in IoT devices in the next six months, the need for a solution to help enable the ‘Security of Things’ is more critical than ever before,” said Catalin Cosoi, Chief Security Strategist at Bitdefender.

The “Security-as-a-Software” product is a small box that doubles as a router. Should an individual accidentally stumble across an online threat, the system blocks the attack and sends alerts to warn the user about its findings.

Households with numerous smart devices connected to the Internet such as smartphones, PCs, and smart TVs can benefit from the level of real-time monitoring the BOX is capable of handling.

“The New Services Economy is disrupting every industry and software security vendors have shifted from shipping CDs & DVDs to selling electronic downloads and now offering services in the Cloud. Going further, the Internet of Things is bringing new opportunities for selling recurring revenue services on top of hardware products, providing an ongoing relationship with the end-customer,” mentioned Len Eschweiler, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Avangate.

Avangate will handle online ordering, delivery, and recurring subscriptions for Bitdefender’s BOX hardware and software.

Avangate’s collaboration with Bitdefender dates back as far as 2006. The digital commerce provider specializes in end-to-end tech product solutions.

“Working with Avangate as our U.S. commerce partner helps us quickly meet the demands of this fast growing market. We are confident knowing Avangate can handle everything from the initial delivery of BOX’s hardware component, to managing the recurring online subscription for our additional software services, helping us alleviate the monetization challenge inherent to IoT and allowing us to focus on our technology and go to market strategy,” highlighted Cosoi.

Other companies working with Avangate includes FICO, HP Software, and Kaspersky.
