India’s Axis Bank Rolls out Display Debit Card for NRE Clients

December 4, 2024         By: Melanie Macinas

Axis Bank, the third biggest private sector bank in India, has become the first bank in the country to offer Display variant Debit Card aimed at further improving customer experience.

Initially available to the bank’s NRE customers, the EMV chip embedded, interactive debit card features a display screen and touch-sensitive button allowing customers to generate One Time Password (OTP) password on the card itself.

Together with the user ID and password, the OTP enables seamless transactions on internet banking without the need to wait for OTP delivered through email or SMS.

This method eliminates the hassles that stem from undelivered OTP due to telecom network issues or mobile number updation.

International ATM access charges are also waived in the new Display Debit card, thus customers can enjoy unlimited free international ATM usage.

Other features of Axis Bank’s new offering include customers lounge access, loyalty points on all transactions and air accident insurance and personal accident insurance of Rs. 25 lakhs and 5 lakhs, respectively.

Rajiv Anand, Group Executive & Head Retail Banking at Axis Bank, commented, “We are proud to be the first Indian bank to introduce Display Debit cards for our customers. The launch of the new card further reinforces our commitment to improving customer experience by deploying cutting-edge technology solutions that provide both security and convenience.”
