15 Million T-Mobile Customers’ Information Breached

According to reports, hackers have apparently stolen the personal information attached to approximately 15 million T-Mobile wireless customers as well as potential customers with the U.S.

The personal information includes Social Security numbers, phone numbers, home addresses, and birthdates.

The most recent assault on people’s personal information is somewhat unsurprising. The hackers gained access to the information via credit reporting agency Experian, which T-Mobile utilizes in order to check the credit of potential consumers.

It is reported that those T-Mobile customers who applied for a phone plan between September 1st 2013 and September 16th 2015 may have been compromised in the information hack.

As of now there is no evidence that suggests the data has been used inappropriately according to Experian. T-Mobile customers are eligible to sign up for two free years of credit monitoring services at www.protectmyID.com/securityincident, a service provided by Experian.

After receiving backlash via social media, T-Mobile CEO John Legere responded with assurance of reconciliation for the data breach. “I hear you re: Experian as service protection option. I am moving as fast as possible to get an alternate option in place by tomorrow,” commented Legere.

Obviously this is a very trying and stressful point in time for the people at T-Mobile, scrambling to keep their heads above amidst such a major breach.
