Visa and FireEye Unveil New Cyber Intelligence Service for Customers
Visa Threat Intelligence, which is powered by FireEye, will be providing an intelligence portal in order to aid in identifying and responding to attacks on the payments system.
Today, Visa and FireEye announced the launch of the service, with many intrigued eyes and ears perching up in response. The service is tailored to the needs of those within the payments industry.
This latest service provided by both companies will offer real-time threat information to merchants and issuers alike, so they may promptly assess and act on a cyber-attack, which could potentially breach their payment systems.
As the new service is rolled out, it becomes the first product available as part of the relatively new global strategic partnership between Visa Inc. and FireEye.
Starting late 2015, subscribers will have access to a web portal that leverages cutting edge cyber intelligence relevant to various payments systems into actionable information. This includes alerts regarding actors with malicious intent, methods, trends in cyber-attacks, and a thorough analysis from recent data breaches across the board.
“Each week, merchants and card issuers receive thousands of alerts about possible cyber-attacks, making it difficult to know which ones to focus on,” commented Mark Nelsen, Senior Vice President of Risk Products and Business Intelligence, Visa Inc. “Visa Threat Intelligence removes the noise by assessing hundreds of threat indicators and serving-up the most important and timely information. Users can then isolate and address those threats that are the most pressing and potentially damaging to their business and customers.”
The service also allows users to interact within the industry to establish awareness communities in order to provide threat intelligence laterally.
“Attack groups are exceptionally skilled at executing an attack across multiple organizations, identifying successful techniques and scaling those methods to an entire industry,” said Grady Summers, Chief Technology Officer, FireEye, Inc. “By partnering with Visa, we can provide targeted intelligence to the payments industry to combat the economies of scale that attackers employ and help create a community united in a common defense.”
