Kickstarter welcomes Stripe as its new payments service provider.
The company’s previous partnership with Amazon Payments proved to be an issue for users due to the tedious registration and approval process.
“Stripe will help Kickstarter’s users reach a broader audience and see higher conversion rates from backers anywhere in the world – especially those coming from mobile devices,” said a representative from the company.
Users will be able to take advantage of the highly anticipated features starting next week.
The popular crowdfunding platform admitted that Amazon’s lack of support for the platform it was using during the collaboration ultimately led to the search for a new provider. Because of this, experts say the company’s move to a new payments service was inevitable.
Kickstarter announced the switch on its blog, taking the opportunity to make direct comparisons between Stripe and Amazon Payments.
The official blog post states, “It takes about two minutes [with Stripe], whereas the old way [on Amazon Payments] could take a few days.”
Under the new payments platform, project creators do not have to setup an Amazon Payments business account. Backers will also be able to benefit from a more refined checkout process. Individuals who are interested in funding a project will no longer be redirected to a separate page.
Stripe’s no-frills approach to handling credit card transactions can help Kickstarter boost website conversions and significantly lower dropout rates.
The provider’s success lies in its transparent pricing and friendly development tools. Unlike other platforms, Stripe keeps the focus on the transaction by eliminating distractive elements. The company also allows its clients to fully customize the payments process.
Stripe is no stranger to well established tech giants. In addition to Kickstarter, the payments company offers its services to Facebook, Twitter, WuFoo, SalesForce, Shopify, and Reddit.
