PayPal Gives Back with Waves for Water
Now that the FIFA’s vaunted World Cup in Brazil has come to a close, and the millions of fans and fanatics have hopped on flights back to their land of origin; there is a supreme score that should be noted in the level of achievement in philanthropy which is made possible by the enormously kind-hearted support of the football world.
Through a special partnership with PayPal, Brazil’s own team captain Neymar, and Waves for Water, the World Cup Tournament has enabled relief for hundreds of thousands of Brazilian’s in need. The effort is estimated to have raised over $300,000 with over 5 Billion Liter Bottles of water being donated, which will aid over 600,000 families in need of access to clean water.
Though an estimate, the final results place the United States first in donations, then France in second, and a surprising and very respectable 3rd place for the host country Brazil.
The spirit and heart of the World Cup games is very much alive and we are seeing the powerful change that sports and philanthropy can achieve when working together to make a better world and a better field of play for everyone.
