Visa Ready MPOS Solution Now Available in Qatar

QNB has pioneered mobile point of sale (mPOS) acceptance in Qatar through the launch of the newly certified Swiftch mPOS technology.

Developed in collaboration with payment company Swiftch, this mPOS solution securely connects to smartphones via Bluetooth and processes card payments.

The Swiftch mPOS technology is approved under the Visa Ready Program—designed to allow software and hardware manufacturers to create electronic payment devices, solutions and software that conform to Visa requirements.

By providing a framework to collaborate with Visa, non-traditional payment partners including mobile device manufacturers, wallet providers, technology partners and mobile network operators can easily navigate the payments ecosystem’s complexities.

“By launching the Swiftch mPOS solution in Qatar, we are attempting to do our part in providing safer, more transparent money transaction options,” said Mohanish Agni, head of merchant sales and solutions - Middle East and North Africa for Visa.

“This is not merely the launching of a new service, but, rather, a concrete step towards developing the financial sector at large by bringing a new solution to the market that will help us in the process of including more merchants in the financial system.”

This mPOS technology also offers compliance with the EMV global standard for authenticating debit and credit card transactions, improving upon both convenience and security.
