MasterCard to Unveil MasterPass in Taiwan

MasterCard is set to launch its global digital payment solution, MasterPass, in Taiwan—a move that promises a seamless, secure, and speedy online shopping experience.

With MasterPass, shoppers do not have to enter detailed payment and shipping information with every purchase.

MasterPass allows consumers to safely store MasterCard and other branded debit, credit, and prepaid card information, together with their shipping addresses, in a single place that consumers can easily access during the checkout process.

Shoppers just have to click Buy with MasterPass during checkout and authenticate themselves with their bank. As consumers can check out with only a user ID and a password, cart abandonment is reduced.

MasterPass also reduces the risk of exposing consumers’ personal information over potentially compromised networks.

According to Eva Chen, head of MasterCard Taiwan, MasterPass “is a major step in the evolution of payments as consumers today are looking to shop and pay in new ways that best fits their needs and lifestyles, from every device they have.”

Taiwan-based wallet issuers that will launch MasterPass-connected wallets on November 19 include Taipei Fubon Bank, Taishin International Bank, E. Sun Bank, Cathay United Bank, and CTBC Bank. These wallets allow merchants, banks and other partners to offer their own branded wallets that improve and extend their own consumer relationships.

Online merchants that will accept MasterPass include Neweb Technologies, OB Design, Lion Travel, 17 Life and Momo.

MasterPass is already available in more than 40,000 online merchants in different countries including Australia, Canada, China, the UK, and the U.S.
