Clinkle, the not-so-secret mobile payment startup, has just nabbed PayPal executive Mike Liberatore as its new Chief Financial Officer.

Liberatore served as PayPal’s senior director of large enterprise finance, and the North American financial planning and analysis group.

The San-Francisco startup is no stranger to attracting to industry veterans. Last October saw former Netflix Chief Financial Officer, Barry McCarthy, agreeing to lead Clinkle as its new Chief Operating Officer.

“The recipe for success in this competitive market of mobile payments calls for breakthrough technology, an innovative vision, and brilliant leaders,” said Liberatore. “I’ve found that here at Clinkle, and I’m thrilled to join the team. I look forward to helping them change the payment industry.”

Clinkle has garnered serious attention and funding from industry leaders. It has a list of dream-team investors including the likes of Richard Branson, Intel, PayPal’s Peter Thiel, and Salesforce’s Mark Benioff.

With proven leadership, and some strong industry backing, expectations are certainly high for Clinkle to shake up mobile payments very soon. Clinkle is following the Facebook model of launching at college campuses, and we may finally get a glimpse of how this app works in the near future.
