Smartphones and tablets are becoming a mainstay of e-commerce, but the frustrating checkout process on these devices encourage cart abandonment.

PayPal and its subsidiary Braintree have announced the arrival of “One Touch,” which is described as the most advanced and quickest mobile payments solution, and aims to make purchases as quick and pain free as possible.

One Touch is available for all mobile devices regardless of the platform they operate on, and it is built using open source code so the platform is not only scalable but highly configurable for mobile applications and e-commerce.

The 15 years of ongoing trust built into PayPal’s effortless online payments platform is sure to make the early adoption and integration of this new payments platform a snap for merchants looking to snare any chance to enhance profits.

The open source nature of the platform enables One Touch to work inside any app, so if you have the PayPal app installed on your device, you should see this new functionality in your favorite apps over the next several weeks.

The Braintree-acquired Venmo has already had this functionality for some time, and it appears that PayPal is borrowing a page from Venmo’s ease of use to improve upon its own mobile initiatives.

The whole point of digital payments processing is to be quick, safe and convenient and it appears that the One Touch platform may just hit the trifecta with this new application.
